Old Fashion Deli & Market
About This Spot
Stepping into Old Fashion Deli & Market feels like slipping into a familiar neighborhood gem tucked away from the bustle of modern Glendale. The atmosphere unfolds at a gentle, unhurried pace, inviting guests to linger among rows of vibrant produce, freshly baked breads, and shelves lined with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialties that hint at stories beyond their labels. There’s a comforting warmth here — part market, part meeting place — where the rhythm is set by friendly greetings and genuine moments of connection rather than rushed transactions.
This is the kind of place where each visit can bring a small discovery: crisp fruits and vegetables that still carry the breath of the earth, marinated meats prepared with care, and delicate pastries that seem to capture a slice of old-world sweetness. The air carries the mingling scents of fresh bread and spices, evoking memories of European neighborhood grocers and bustling Middle Eastern bazaars alike. It’s no surprise that many find a quiet pleasure not just in the selection but in the calm familiarity of well-loved faces behind the counter, eager to share their knowledge and help you find just what you need.
Old Fashion Deli & Market isn’t just a grocery stop — it’s a place where the experience feels thoughtfully wrapped in tradition and warmth. Whether you’re drawn by the rich variety of Eastern sweets, the freshly sliced deli meats, or simply the reassuring presence of a small, community-rooted market, this spot feels like a steady heartbeat in the neighborhood’s everyday rhythm. It’s quietly inviting, a place where local flavor and friendly service come together in a way that feels meaningful — a reminder that sometimes, the best finds are those that have been lovingly cared for over time.

Very nice market. Tons of interesting Mediterranean and middle eastern items. The workers are friendly. The only issue is I’ve found items that are past the best by date, so make sure to check.

Feels like a small European grocery. Produce is very fresh. Helpful staff. I much prefer shopping here and supporting small business than shopping corporate chain grocery stores. A unique selection of Eastern sweets and accompaniments. Butcher serves up fresh and marinated meats. Top notch.

I am obsessed with this small business! Everyone is welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful and their fruits, vegetables, pastries, meats, and dairy products are top tier! I was referred by a friend re: their Dubai Chocolate and Cakes and must confirm they are delicious, fresh, moist, decadent, reasonably priced and generously portioned. I highly recommend this establishment. 10/10

I love this small everything you need grocery store. Has all the armenian middle eastern spices and foods at good quality and low prices. The workers are just so sweet as well. There is a nice variety of fresh baked bread right when you walk in and that is the main reason why I go there the bread!!! Love this small little market.

They always have the freshest fruits and vegetables and most delicious prepared foods. We also got some delicious deli meats. Anytime we're near Glendale we make sure to stop in Old Fashion and see Andon! This place hasn't changed in 15 years! Thank you!!!!

nice store, first time there so don't wanna fully judge by just this first visit. We purchased Deli and when consuming noticed green spots on the meat, first thought it was spoiled and molded but then realized it was the paint from the paper they used to wrap and paint was being washed by the moisture from food. At the meet counter also I was ignored for few minutes while they had 5 people working and only me waiting, then realized I had to order from the cashier not from them directly, but after for few minutes kind of unpleasantly (like how you don't even know how to order) they tried to instruct me but in Armenian language. Didn't they expect non Armenian to visit their store? Also tried Tabbouleh, no taste to it and not impressive. Their breads were good and fresh.
